Okay, so their bagels are really good! I live nearby and they're a staple. No questions asked. Going in there can get super hectic though so you better come prepared knowing what you want because you won't be given a single second to decide once you're in there.

Bergen bagels are my platonic ideal of a bagel. When I'm trying to eat low/er carb? They're the things that haunt me. When I'm an ocean away? They're the bagels I try to push out of my cravings because international plastic-bagged mini bagels are an insult to the noble BB (Bergen bagel). I really have never gone wrong here. Get an egg to make things breakfast-y! Go neutral and choose a norm-core homemade cream cheese. I love a toasted poppy bagel with scallion cream cheese because I'm a basic bagel bish. Yelp note: pair nicely with a hangover.

I came here on a Sunday morning to get a bagel breakfast and to buy a dozen bagels to take home. The Lox Bagel I got for breakfast was so good--not just the freshly baked bagel, but also the smoked salmon, house-made cream cheese, tomato, and capers. I asked the staff to give me the freshest bagels to take home on my five-hour drive, and he assured me that everything was fresh and had just come out of the oven. He also gave me two extra bagels for free with my dozen order, so I got 14 bagels for the price of 12. How nice! This was my first time here, and I really enjoyed the experience. I love their bagels too--they are so much bigger than those I get in the DMV area.

These are good bagels. Ten years after my first time having them, they are still delicious (and a great way to occupy a three-year-old for an hour). Perhaps a little fatter and doughier than the ideal, but the same has been said about me so I'm not really going to complain. They've got all the schmears you need, the prices are decent, and the service is fast and efficient. This is just about everything you need in a bagel shop. Really, I think it's great. I have to say though...and I'm not trying to fight any of you Bergen Bagel fanatics... but I am going to put this out there: I don't think they are the best in the city, and I don't think they are worth going out of your way. But they are good bagels, and the neighborhood is lucky to have them. I can also appreciate that in addition to black and white cookies, they've also gone the extra mile and made just black cookies, and just white cookies. They are actually the only place I've seen this done. And again, this might be a complex and metaphorical statement about the rampant gentrification in the area. Is it? Do these cookie choices have racial, socioeconomic, and political implications, Bergen Bagels?! I don't support this cookie segregation! I support equal cookie rights for everyone in Brooklyn! But if it's just because some people prefer vanilla or chocolate, then that's cool.

Absolutely amazing! The blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese with an iced coffee is my go-to. Although there was a little line before being able to order, I did not mind. It's worth the wait! My employer used this establishment to cater breakfast during RN Week. Fruits, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, etc. you name it, we had it. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I will definitely come back again.

We stayed with a friend who lived right next to Bergen Bagels! We stopped there just about every morning we were in NY. The bagels were always hot and fresh and pretty thick for size too. They had a lot of different cream cheese options which we really appreciated. Our favorite was the chives cream cheese! I got the bacon egg and cheese bagel which was very delicious and filling, and my boyfriend got the salmon-which he said he really enjoyed with the cream cheese. The place is smaller but great for grabbing a bagel on the go. The staff was always smiling and very friendly to us too!

Walking around for our first day in Brooklyn, we wanted to start off with a quick bagel. Bergen Bagel was recommended to us by a friend. We got the nova scotia salmon on a plain and an everything bagel, a black and white cookie, and an iced coffee. The bagels were delicious! The salmon tasted very clean and buttery, and as you can see we got tons of cream cheese. The cream cheese was full of flavor and very rich. Amazing! The black and white cookie was also very good, a nice cake texture with the creamy chocolate and sugar icing. I'm usually not a big fan of cake-like textures but this was very good. The man who helped us was extremely kind and helpful in the ordering process! He really made it less intimidating than one might expect to order food in New York. The girl behind us also got ketchup only on a bagel which was...interesting lol

Let's start with service. Efficient, fairly courteous but could use a smile. Next, overall the place is small. I arrived on Sunday at 9 am, 5 customers waiting for there orders and the place felt a little cramped. Now on to the food. As I am always in search of "the one" that has the best bagels, sorry Bergen Bagel not making my top 5. I'll go with #8. Bagels were fresh and just the right amount of chewability. Unfortunately, my BEC on an everything came out BEC on a plain. The real everything bagel that I also got with cream cheese was a everything but light on the everything seasonings (see the photos) Bottom line: Worthy of a 1 time visit but I will not be going back. My quest for the #1 bagel in NY continues.

Bergen Bagels is an absolute 'Yum.' We were on our way to see people when I had an urge for a muffin and cup of coffee. BB was definitely the place to stop. Very big store and even bigger selection of bagels, muffins, various types of cream cheeses. They even had a whole salmon and other fishes. Great friendly staff walked me through the 15 different muffins on display. I settled on the Blueberry. It was huge, it was delicious, exactly how a muffin like this should be. That along with the delicious coffee made it a good stop for me. My wife order a toasted everything bagel and a small vegetable cream cheese. A very good bagel and I was impressed with the amount of vegetables in the cream cheese. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. I a looking forward to a return visit as I'm usually in the area every couple of weeks. Good spot, well stocked, clean and a great staff. KUDOs to the team at Bergen Bagels.
